Your eyes bolt open the rest of the way as you recognize the feeling around your wrists as crude rope binding you to a wooden tent pole. Feeling around in your mouth you feel the tightness of a leather thong stretched between your lips. Trapped! You try to work your wrists around the crude rope, but alas whoever tied them was an expert, tight and secure. That makes you think slavers...but why are slavers hitting a steamship only a few days out of Cairo? While you try hopelessly to free your wrists you feel something else, something soft, rubbing up against your hands. You turn your head as far as it will go and realize that you have a companion tied to the other side of the pole, similarly bound. You strain your neck and try to recognize your fellow captive.
