“Servant, tell me is the cursed prince dead? Have you fulfilled your task and sent him into certain doom?”
Hearing the stone statues reply is like a cold dagger to your hearth. The cursed prince that the statue speaks about with such contempt is you, and with that realization your mind opens up to the truth. The mission your father gave you is a deathtrap.
It was your survival instinct which guided you here. Few, chosen by the gods have a special… gift. When their lives are in danger their subconscious knows it, it’s almost like a sixth sense. Thus they are somewhat aware of lurking danger and can cheat death it in ways mortal men cannot. This is also why the heroes return from the battle field and their followers do not.
“Servant answer me”
Your mind turns red with bloodlust and your instincts demands blood for this betrayal. Time seems to slows down and your senses heighten, you listen and can almost hear your fathers heartbeats from his bedroom across the hall. Despite being of the same blood there is no trace of mercy in your mind.
“You are not my servant. It seems destiny cannot be changed so easily. Farwell cursed prince we will meet again”
The voice fades away and whatever spirit possessed that statue is now gone. Despite not bringing your sword along you could kill your father while he’s asleep but that would be hard to explain to the guards. What do you do?
