Visit the Market Square (TDM/MHW)
From Create Your Own Story
As you make your way the center of the market place, you eyes can't help but notice a line of grungy looking men and women being led towards the auction house in chains. You weren't sure what it was, but something about them was off.
Frowning slightly, you muttered an incantation that vastly improved your eyesight and began searching the crowd.
Sure enough you spot it: the shimmering tattoos bound with powerful magics that marked a captured dragon and bound them to a single master at a time.
You shake your head. There wasn't anything you could do as is, even if you wanted to. Your magic was powerful, but the Law that dealt with dragons was enforced by even more powerful magic. Regardless about how you felt about it, slavery was just a part of life, and dragons were all too often a part of that. Besides, it was their fault for not abiding the proper procedures for legal visitation to Illnora anyway.
You try to stifle the thought by focusing your attention on the bulletin board, but seeing dragons (even in human form) was enough to rekindle a fire in your mind that you had almost forgotten about and cause your eyes to slide over the job offers without even registering what they were saying.
Yes, it was clear now... you had entered the Academy in part to train yourself with the underlying skills needed to prepare yourself to work with dragons: how to talk with them, how to hunt and capture them, how to train them, and to how buy or sell them. As long as you could work with the creatures that had fascinated you for most of your life, you would be happy. That was what you wanted to do.
But alas, it seemed like it wasn't meant to be. You didn't score high enough in the required areas to get into the preliminary courses, and Dragons were so difficult and dangerous to deal with that it required special permits and certifications to work with them directly, and even the cheapest ones cost a small fortune to buy and then take care of.
So deep was your pondering, that your mind barely registered that your gaze had come to rest a slightly larger than average poster advertising something from the DDA. When finally you realized just what it was you were looking at, your eyes widened in excitement. Excitedly, you began to read:
Official Notice from the Department of Draconic Affairs
Due to a recent influx in illegal dragon Immigration, the DDA is currently looking to supplement our forces by hiring and provide training additional temporary workers to assist both Dragon Masters and all Licensed Dragon Catchers. No prior experience or formal training is required. As part of this initiative, the DDA will provide:
- Five weeks of guaranteed labor with a base payment of 1 Gold Maurc per day.
- A crash course in the minimum training required to receive your Draconic/Exotic Species Hunting and Handling Permit.
- On-the-Job and Out-In-the-Field training.
- Opportunities to directly interact with, capture, summon, and train dragons as well as other exotic species and creatures.
- Given the opportunity to work and receive specialized training in the desired fields, if room is available.
- A Dragon Master or Dragon Catcher to supervise your training and act as a mentor.
- Opportunity to be hired on permanently as a Deputy Dragon Master should your work be deemed acceptable enough, or a recommended referral to a merchant company of your choice that we have dealings with.
For a moment, you stare at the poster in disbelief, wondering how this stroke of luck happened to fall right into your lap. Then it clicks, and your mind starts racing.
What do you do?
- Seems too risky (Coward).
