"Let's get started," you say.

After the boys sink 3 striped balls, it's your turn at the table. You run off 4 solids in a row before missing the shot.

"Ha!" Alex says. "You left me an easy one." Right as he starts moving the cue stick forward, you shift into him for a tenth of a second before jumping back into Kaya. During that time you move the cue stick off center, causing the cue ball to miss entirely.

You smile. "Easy one, huh? Ball in hand, Yulia."

Alex takes a last forlorn look and sits. Yulia sinks two more solids. After Dave runs 3 stripes in a row to leave you both with one ball each to sink, you do the same thing to him you did to Alex. His shot goes wild.

"Ball in hand... again," you grin. You sink the last solid ball and drain the 8. "OK, pay up."

Yulia is laughing. "Well done, Kaya." She turns your head and gives you a soft kiss on the lips.

Alex looks disgusted. Dave sighs and takes out his wallet. "Do you want the money, or do you want to settle... some other way?"
