Tell John about being Insecure
From Create Your Own Story
With anticipation you lean on the opposite wall from the bathroom, listening to the shower drench your step-dad in hot water. The dark hall is only lit by the small light from under the door. Not expecting to wait long, you twiddle your thumbs over your phone to buy some entertainment.
The shower turns off. In a series of noises the shower curtain opens, the sink faucet is turned on and off, heavy steps on the tile floor, and the door *clicks* to unlock.
When the door opens, the bathroom light is first to come through the door, illuminating your presence. John steps through the door wearing 'your' towel around his waist. He catches an unsuspecting glimpse just before he turns the light off.
"Good Morning", he whispers. "'Morning", you reply. "How did you sleep?" With nothing else to say, you give a repeated, "Good".
Having nothing else to say John begins to leave for his clothes, but you with other plans reach your hand out to catch his arm. "Can I talk to you about something?" You whisper to his back. He takes a step back to face you. In the hall he is only a silhouette, but his presence is large. With sexual intentions you begin to see the qualities you want from him. The first being able to stand over you with the strength and confidence of a man who knows what he wants. "What is it?" he says with the tenderness of someone who cares.
"It's about..." You hesitate on the last word. "my man-hood." John lets the sentence linger. "Are you having trouble... growing?" He says, knowing you've had the "talk" years earlier. "No, no. It's not that." You try to defend some part of your masculinity. "How big is... "average"".
John stays silent. Some part of him relaxes and that lets the towel on his hips slide down just enough for you to know that some part of him was exposed in the darkness. With a free hand he adjusts the towel back onto his hips, leaves the silence for another moment, then says, "Let me get dressed, we can talk about it outside."
He takes a step backwards, then turns into the hall where he disappears behind your mother's door.
