You know that you've screwed up, and there's no way out of this. You set your science gun to overload and take aim at the ceiling. The pirates seem puzzled at first, almost too amused to kill you. That is, until one of them yells out "Cave-in! Stop him!" They open fire, but it is too late. As several well placed plasma bursts tear apart your innards, you release your finger from the trigger and the pistol explodes in a wave of cosmic energy. it cascades upwards bringing the roof down in chunks, killing most of the pirates instantly.

You fall to the ground bleeding. With the last of your energy you turn your head to the side. You can see Zone, smiling one last time. And beyond him, the pirate who figured out your suicide play. An attractive human in a pink jumpsuit almost your age. There's a part of you that can't help but feel that this isn't the way things were supposed to play out between you and her. A deafening thunder of falling rock builds to a crescendo and then ceases.
