Dorothy puts her shoes back on and the two of you follow the road, walking for several hours without seeing much of any interest. You're passing by a cornfield when you spot a raggedy straw woman with a painted face hanging on a pole. She's wearing a blonde wig and has black high heels on her feet. She isn't doing a very good job of scaring the crows away. There are several among the corn and one perched right on her hat.
"Hello," says the scarecrow. "Would you mind helping me down?"
"Oh my!" Dorothy says. "You poor thing! Of course we'll help you."
