Stay behind to meditate further upon your dream
From Create Your Own Story
The sun is now higher in the sky and its rays shine in through the intricate stained glass windows of the chapel, bathing you in warmth and soft light. You take this as a sign that you should remain, and once again you kneel down in humble prayer.
It occurs to you, not for the first time, that it would be wise to request saintly aid in interpreting your dream. But which saint might be of particular help to you?
As you pray and meditate upon your problems, you realize that none could sympathize more with your current plight than Mary herself, who received her own vision from an angel.
You take out your beads and pray a full Rosary, imploring your Blessed Mother to intercede on your behalf and lighten your burden.
As you finish your last decade, though you can't explain why, you feel somewhat let down. In recent months, when you've finished your prayers, you're sure you've felt a presence of some kind, both within you and around you. But now you feel starkly alone. It's so confusing! Why would God send you a vision you can't understand? You tremble slightly as you consider the alternative; that the dream is an apparition sent by the Devil. The idea chills you to the bone, but you don't think the dream is trying to tempt you towards sin, which just leaves you more confused than ever.
You make the Sign of the Cross and stow your beads in your cloak pocket. You move to stand up, but you find that suddenly your body won't obey you; your limbs seem frozen stiff. Unbidden, as if you were a marionette, your head snaps forward and your eyes swivel to the front of the chapel and you stare, wide-eyedinto the eyes of Jesus on the crucifix. You only have the briefest of moments to wonder if you're being possessed before your eyes roll back in your head and you feel first the hard floor beneath you, then your body and then your mind itself melt away, like water swirling down a drain.
