Stand your ground and fight

You draw your sword and cut down the old man in one fluid motion. Blade dripping with blood, you put yourself at the top of the stairs and adopt a combat pose. This place is easy to defend: you have the high ground and they can only come to you one by one.

You behead the first man, a burly fellow with a snarling demon mask, before he can even swing his axe. He tumbles down the stairs into two other masked men, who must shove his corpse out of the way to pass. Man number two slashes you across the hip with his rapier, but you easily snap his frail weapon with your longsword before skewering him through the heart.

The third man, learning from his fallen friends' deadly mistake, stays at a safe distance and just throws a dagger into your left eye.
