You jump right back in and sink back down to the cave entrance. You try and swim into the open waters, where even the faintest protruding rays of sunlight might deter a grue. As you unenter into the depths, you see that night has fallen. The world around you is as dark as a coal mine a thousand feet below ground, but in the casual movement of the water masses, it appears as if massive demons and leviathans are dancing all around you. You drown, as much because of fear as water in your lungs.
