Your name is Raymond Hathaway, and you are 22 years old. You have never worked a real case before, although you have done copious amounts of research online. You have always been a believer in the supernatural, and last year your life was saved by a hunter called Vernon Lakewood after you went to investigate a haunted house that turned out to really be haunted. At the time, he scoffed at your hope to become a hunter. Two weeks ago, however, you recieved his journal in the mail as well as a note explaining that he was dead and had told his wife to give you the journal if he ever passed away. Now, after two weeks of studying, you believe you are finally ready to begin your hunt.
You have been searching for cases on both the internet and in local newspapers, and believe you have found three potential cases.
The first is a possible in New York. Almost a month ago, a firefighter died in a small fire at an office building, and since then three fires have started there with no explanation. They have all been put out just as quickly, also with no possible explanation, but you worry that it will not always be the case.
The second is a possible werewolf in Virginia. As this is only an hour's drive from your own house, this case will be the easiest to get to. Three people have been attacked by a 'rabid dog' in as many weeks, all of them within a block of the same apartment building. One of them, the only survivor, is apparently locked up in a mental asylum because he keeps raving about a woman with claws and fangs.
The third makes no sense to you. A mailman went on a killing spree in South Carolina, killing almost a dozen people before escaping from police. What strikes you as 'supernatural' about this is that the very same mailman was found dead an hour later, with stab wounds at least a week old. There is no way he could have been alive and killing people if he was dead in a sewer at the same time.
