It would be too blatant to call that shot in. “Out,” you say. “Game point.”
Ellen, Robin, and Yuriko cheer in celebration and the losers mope off the court. You see Rachel standing in the middle of the court glaring in Ellen’s direction.
As the girls drift off, you start packing the equipment back up and returning it to the storage bin. On your way back, you see Rachel heading towards her tent alone. You intercept her, putting your hand on her shoulder. “Too bad about the game. I helped as much as I could.”
Rachel flicks your hand away. “What about that last shot? It could have been in!”
“Rachel…” you say soothingly.
“Don’t ‘Rachel’ me! Just go away until you’re going to be helpful again.” She storms off towards her tent leaving you alone in the field.
