"You aren't really trying to escape, are you?" the man asked in a sort of laughing tone. "No one has escaped since Experiment 22...and that will never happen again. I'm Rory," he added, almost as an afterthought.
"I'm Vanessa." When he didn't react, you added your pass-code. "VLC-16-A. I was told that you would be my assistant for the tests."
He smiled. He was actually rather handsome, but he still unsettled you; his eyes were brown but lacked the warmth that a lot of brown-eyed people had. It was probably your imagination, but they looked a bit silver.
"Welcome, Vanessa Lee Carson!" he said. "I'm your guide on the journey to better knowledge of science and research. I'll be supervising your tests and recording your progress. If you ever need help, you will come to me." You spared him a smile.
"But for now, we must get you some food." The man rummaged about in a nearby cart and produced two sandwiches. "Eat up, because you'll need your energy for this test." You eat the sandwich, and when you get up you see that Rory is gone.
