You steal quickly down the twisting, ancient streets, eager to put as much real estate between yourself and your landlord as possible. As the sun rises on another clear, chilly winter morning, the streets begin to fill with people going about their business.
Eventually your swift walk slows to a trudge as the bag over your shoulder begins to weigh you down, and as your stomach begins to rumble your thoughts turn to food and where you might get some very, very inexpensively. The first place that springs to mind, of course, is Marieta's Inn. It's a dirty, rat-infested underground hole that even you would hesitate to rent a bed in, and it attracts a very rough crowd, but the landlady is a very old friend of yours. Or at least, you think, swallowing uncomfortably as you recall the events of your last visit, she was; but she must have forgotten about that by now...
