- | [[Skull Jr.]] has always been interested in the idea of supershows ever since he first learned about them. In early 2009 while he was doing guest appearances for Hybrid Championship Wrestling (HCW), he and co-owner RPK scheduled a supershow called "HCW When Worlds Collide 2009", which was scheduled to take place between August 13 and 15. However, as time progressed the event never materialized and ended up being an inter-federation one-shot event after all the guests from other federations had to withdraw themselves from it. On September 2, Skull announced that he would like to run a supershow himself in 2010. That November, after thinking about whether to brand the event with either his federation THW or his community NBYWA, he decided to brand the event with both. Like THW's supercards from 2006 - 2008, he decided to name any NBYWA event from then onward with numbers, making it "THW 22/NBYWA 1". The event's original name was "One Last Time", as it was supposed to be a full-fledged THW reunion with wrestlers of other feds participating as well, but as time went on and more THW alumni respectfully declined the offer, it was renamed "The End", symbolizing that it was going to be THW's last event period, then after a while the name was finally settled on "A New Beginning", symbolizing that THW's end would be coming as it passes the torch to NBYWA. On May 28, 2010, it was announced that there will be a brand new NBYWA World Heavyweight Championship belt presented at the beginning of the first show. On July 7, 2010, it was announced that the event will be taking place at the John F. Kennedy Middle School Football Field. It will be the first THW (or backyard wrestling in general) event to take place there since "THW 15: Halo 3" on September 25, 2007.
