Church

Castle

(SO 137 414847)

The castle is a much modified C14 moated fortified manor house, situated on rising ground SW of the willage. In 1395 Sir Hugh Cheney (d.1404) received a license from Richard II to crenelate his manor house at "Longefeld". The building is in a quadrangular form 30.48 x 36.58m, with an entrance in the northern side. It was moated.

Castle Ring

(SO 137 418849)

There is a circular ringwork, located north of the castle, which may be its predecessor. It is 56m across externally, and has a brestwork, but no sign of a ditch.
