Saxton Map: Plashe
Plaish lies above a quiet wooded valley, with a stream running to the south east. It is about 8kn NE of Church Stretton and 2 km NE of Cardington. To its NE stands the noticeable ridge line of Yell Bank.
History
Domesday
4 Land of Earl Roger
4,8 Holding of Roger de Lacy under Earl Roger
4,8,12 Plaish (Plesha) Berner holds it from him. Godwin held it. 1 hide which pays tax. In lordship 1 plough; 1 villager and 1 slave with 1/2 plough. The value was 3s; now 5s.
Post Domesday
The current hall - a brick-built mansion was built after the period of the game, during Henry VIII's reign, but incorporates parts of an earlier stone building, possibly a castle or a fortified manor house.
Church
There is not trace of a church, although there are references to the 'free-Chapel within the Castelle of Plashe' in the early C16.
Castle
A moated building was recorded as being here by at least 1255. It is likely that it was a fortified manor house.
