Situation
Saxton Map: Mydlop
Middlehope sits high up, towards the south-east side of Wenlock Edge, at the head of a valley where a stream splits off, and the edge branches from the main ridgeline into a separate hill. New Hall lies about 1km to the north, below the escarpment, Harton likewise, but to the west.

Castle
A motte and bailey castle stands above the village, to the north-east. The motte stands in the SW angle of a roughly 50m diameter bailey, and was about 13m across at the base, 11m at the summit. To the west stands another mound - possibly another building.
