Bloody St. Patrick's Day

On March 17, 1941, 150,000 Tient soldiers, under the command of General Menya, attempted to seige city of New Boston, Chelmsford.

In order to counter the attack, ten million civilians were evacuated from the city to the nearby town of Elsbury. The Chelmsford forces led by General W. Welker and his 107,000 men assembled on Charles Island where Welker and his men blocked off the bridges connecting the island. Welker sent gunners on to the top floors of waterfront midrises to gun down the unsuspecting enemy. With the entire east side of the island blocked off, the arriving Tient troops struggled to cross the Boston River.

By noon, Tient soldiers were forced back across the river and into the boroughs. General Welker decided to pursue them leaving only 12,000 remaining on the island, which proved to be a fatal mistake.

Upon meeting with the Tient army, Welker's troops were brutally slaughtered while Tient sustained only minor losses. The 12,000 troops garrisoned on the island were eventually surrounded by the Tient forces causing them to surrender. Only 30,000 Chelmsford soldiers managed to escape to Elsbury leaving Tient to occupy the city.
