Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory
From Asaction
Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory is an OAV of the UC(Universal Century) series. It aired on AS a while ago when the Action Block only consisted of 6 shows aired from 11-2 on Saturday nights.
Plot
Three years after the end of the catastrophic One Year War, peace on Earth and the colonies is shattered by the presence of the Delaz Fleet, a rogue Zeon military group loyal to the ideals of the late dictator Gihren Zabi. Delaz Fleet's ace pilot Anavel Gato, once hailed as "The Nightmare of Solomon", infiltrates the Federation's Torrington base in Australia and steals the nuclear-armed Gundam GP02A "Physalis" prototype. Rookie pilot Kou Uraki - with the aid of Anaheim Electronics engineer Nina Purpleton and the crew of the carrier Albion - pilots the Gundam GP01 "Zephyranthes" prototype in an attempt to recover the stolen Gundam unit and prevent another war from breaking out.
In easier to get terms: The Zeeks are sore losers who just don't wana STFU, so they do this. The Federation naturaly gets pissed and fighting starts up again. Huzzah.
It centers mostly around Kou's struggle to become a real Mobile Suit Pilot, his relationship with Nina, his constant confrontations with Gato, and what being a Soldier in the Federal Forces really means to him.
Characters
Kou Uraki: After graduating from the Federation military academy Kou was stationed at the Federation's Torrington base in Australia. Assigned as a Test Pilot, Kou is more or less a moving target for the actual Suits being tested. Along with Keith he Pilots an old Zaku captured at the end of the One Year War. Kou is curious in nature, and sort of a nerd when it comes to socializing. This makes encounters with Nina all the more akward. At age 19, he shows alot of promise as a Pilot. When the Albion shows up at Torrington he is all to excited to get a look at what it's carrying, the Gundams. From there it's simple to him: prove he can be a Pilot for one of those things.
Chuck Keith: Kou's buddy, and Test Pilot at the Base. Still a n00b as a Pilot, Keith helps Kou out throughout the series. In Combat, and with Nina.
Captain Synapse: The Captain of the Carrier Albion. He is a seasoned Soldier, and a Gentlemen. The crew look to him for guidance as well as rely on his decision making skills as Captain.
South Burning: As the senior pilot at the Federation's Torrington base, Burning supervises the testing of new equipment and acts a mentor to the inexperienced Kou Uraki and Chuck Keith.
Bernard Monsha: A Veteran Pilot, Monsha is an old friend of Burning's. Cocky, pervy, and a bit of a jerk at times he rubs some of the crew on the Albion the wrong way. He sees Kou as someone undeserving of the Gundam. Thats mostly just him being bitter about getting beat by him in a sparring match to determine who would get it. For all his bad traits though, Monsha is a fantastic Pilot who knows what to do when shit flies.
Nina Purpleton: Nina is the head engineer of the two new Gundams that are being developed for the Federation by Anaheim Electronics. Only 21 years old, she is extremely protective of her creations. Leading her to give Kou a smack on the head when he's to curious for his own good. Her relationship with Kou is one of the main points of the story. This starts to devleop while the two are aboard the Albion searching for Unit 02.
Anavel Gato: An Ace Pilot who earned the nickname "Nightmare of Solomon" for singlehandedly holding off a Federation pursuit force while Zeon forces retreated. Incredibly prideful, Gato could not stand the defeat The Principality of Zeon sufferd at the end of the war. He was all to happy, and ready to get back at them. While he is the "bad guy", Gato is not really an evil person. He just believes deeply in the Zeon cause. His meetings with Kou are key to the story. As they develop quite a score to settle.
