Mr. A.V. Gibbons is a rare wizard who eschews the practice of magic itself and has focused on learning the intricacies of alchemy. This may be because he witnessed the drowning of his mother and father in 1795 while they were being tried for witchcraft. After that it was up to him to raise his younger sister, Althea. But despite his best efforts she had grown up to become a witch. He holds the degree of MAA, Master of Applied Alchemy from the Russian Alchemical Academy
