The Great River

The Great River was released in the Summer 2006 issue of Games Quarterly Magazine in the United States. It was the first mini-variant for The Settlers of Catan released in the US, although it had been released in Germany and the Netherlands the year before.

The mighty river springs from the mountains, flows through the hills, and branches out through the swamp to form a delta at the sea. The river is rich in gold, which collects along the banks. Everyone wants to build as many roads, settlements, and cities along the river as possible, to collect the valuable gold (and bonus victory points!).
