Sorry dan i dont know where im i supposed to put his but whats a Bureaucrat?

Bureaucrats are a special type of admin. They're like the "inner elite" or something like that. I don't know if they have any actual power that sysops don't have, but I do know that they're seen as being the most important admins. I have been generous in granting admin status (so far), but I've witheld bureaucrat in most cases. (If you're wondering whether you could make bureaucrat, I might be willing, if I see an active, article-creating, wiki-formatting-understanding little Spriekachu, if you catch my drift.) --Wehpudicabok--talk-- 23:51, 13 March 2007 (EST)

I understanded everything but the last part o.o;, are you saying that i should make an article about spriekachu in wikipedia? --Spriekachu--talk-- 23:26, 14 March 2007 (EST)

/me chuckles. No, I meant that if you're an active member of the community and keep up with articles like Minocrevian, I'll make you a bureaucrat, if you want. --Wehpudicabok--talk-- 23:01, 15 March 2007 (EST)

Ok but i'll need some time to think up another animal, kay? --Spriekachu--talk-- 16:40, 16 March 2007 (EST)

[edit] Your problem

Hey, I heard about your problem with leaving users which you posted on Silent Penguins Userpage on ?pedia, and i'd like to say that I think your wiki's got potential. In other words, I'd like to join. I still don't fully understand what the wiki's about, but i'll give it a try, and contribute as much as i can. Thanks, Zerotrousers 04:02, 18 April 2007 (EDT)

Great! It's always good to see new users sign up. And thanks for the compliment on the wiki itself. I always thought it would be a catchy idea; it's nice to get some feedback. --Wehpudicabok--talk-- 18:23, 18 April 2007 (EDT)

[edit] From Wehpudicabok's talk page on Uncyc

I just joined Vaporstory, thanks to your sig. Interesting. I noticce that, now, I am the only active user there. User:Uncyclopedian/sig 01:00, 20 May 2007 (UTC)

Yes, I started that months ago, and it got off to a good start but nobody but me stuck with it. I've all but given up on it. I'll probably be taking the links to it out soon... If you think it's got potential, I'll see what I can do about reviving interest, but as it is I think the whole project's a bust. --Wehpudicabok--talk-- 01:17, 20 May 2007 (UTC)
I believe it may have potential, especially if it is actually worked on a bit by more than one user for a bit. User:Uncyclopedian/sig
have you given up on this site? I mean I can help you out if you want by building a structure for it like I did with my site. your site really needs a cult following, which at the moment it doesn't have, you need to confront a area of the internet that will be interested in your wiki, sci-fi type stuff and writers groups. Basicly you need to find the people that would want to write on your site. I personally like the idea and wonder why it hasn't taken off. But if you want me too help you out at all then I am willing to lend a hand, Im not a writer though, so I cant really add any content.--Silent Penguin 21:05, 24 May 2007 (UTC)
I don't know, guys... The only real problem I think the site had is a lack of advertising, or something like that. I don't know how to handle that. I don't know how to run a site, honestly. I've never done it before. I've certainly never tried anything on this scale, and I don't know how to fight a lack of user interest.
I'll tell you what. You guys help me spread the word, and I'll work on the project itself. If enough people join and it reaches the point where we have a number of frequent contributors and new additions to the community, I'd love to oversee the project. I just see it as a failure as it stands, that's all, and I don't think that there was anything I could've done better. SP, you say you can build a structure. That's exactly what I need. Believe me when I say that I love the Vaporstory completely, and if I really thought it could succeed, I would've stuck with it. I stuck with it for as long as I could. I'm not there anymore, but if you (SP) could get the community off of the ground, I'd come back in a second. I'm sorry I'm rambling. I just feel very strongly about the whole project. --Wehpudicabok--talk-- 23:59, 24 May 2007 (UTC)

You need to put in some effort too. You cant just expect a site to take off without any work. For starters you need to write a synopsis of what the world is like, include some important pointers and a list of key facts about this world from what has already been written, being an admin there you will know how to write this better than me. Im gonna try to do some stuff, Me being an admin might help so I can edit the pages you have protected, but if you don't you will have to move stuff from where I have put it to where it should be. As for your forum problem, I have three solutions:

  • I rebuild what you have got, making it look a bit fancier, and use some templates and categories so that when you move to somewhere that has the <forum> tags your forum will be carried over. The disadvantage to this is that the forum will be mainly as unworkable as before, just easy to switch to the newer system.
  • You could get an off site forum like a proboards, like I did with ?pedia, however, when you come to move it is more or less impossible to do. It is still worth a lot of consideration, baring in mind you would have to allow guest posts so that users dont have to re-register using an email address.
  • Finally, I could Set up a forum on wikia scratch pads, as they allow almost anything. This is again off site but can be moved easily and is a dynamic wiki forum like my site, uncyc, ect. The only problem is you wont be an admin there, so you would need to put a template down {{Delete}} to get rid of anything.

They all have their up and down sides, so the final decision is yours. , I have also set up a new channel at freenode. Just to reiterate, if you want to, please make me an admin so i can edit the protected pages, this isn't vital and you dont have to do this or you could choose to de-op me after I have finished. But as you seem to be pretty abstain about the site then allowing me access to protected and protecting pages would be much faster than me messeging you every time iv made something in the user namespace which I think is ready for upload.

Sorry that was so long, so what i really need is a decision on where you want the forum.--Silent Penguin 17:03, 25 May 2007 (UTC)

right, so far I have cleaned up the logo and started on a new front page. I still Need a choice on what you want doing with the forum.--Silent Penguin 16:51, 26 May 2007 (UTC)

Well, well... The site appears to be down right now, at least for me, but when it goes back up, I'll copy this whole discussion over there, and sysop you. I'd like to clarify something as well. I have no intention of letting the site die unless I'm the only one editing. Which I was, for a long time. Now that we have some active users again, I'll give it another shot, and write some more as well as flesh out my ideas for the structure of the site. As for a list of key facts, I'm hesitant to define things too clearly, but I think I'll take you up on that and set it up. Again, though, I don't want too much detail, because I want to give writers a wide range of possible creations.
As for a forum... I think the first option you put up would be best. I like the forum as it is now; it works for such a small site. I plan to move this to Wikia eventually, but I think we should let it develop on editthis until its true potential can be fully demonstrated. So for now, a basic enhancement of the forum as it stands is probably the best idea.
I'm sorry if I wasn't clear enough earlier. As the founder of Vaporstory, I fully intend to work a heck of a lot on the project. I just have trouble finding new members. That's where I need your help the most. --Wehpudicabok--talk-- 01:20, 27 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] I joined Vaporstory

I'm from Uncyc and I joined Vaporstory (partly because of what you posted in Nintendorulez's Wikipedia talkpage. What's it really about? I don't quite understand it. Zt 03:57, 15 June 2009 (PDT)
