Concepts of Americanization

From Unawiki

Americanization is a term for the influence of the United States on pop-culture, cuisine, technology, business practices and political techniques on other countries and the acculturation of immigrants to American customs. This also often is displayed as cultural imperialism which is negatively connoted, but one can argue that the US have this cultural impact, because it created a culture out of many different impacts. The US Americanized themselves since the end of the 19th century by innovations like dime novels, radio, films and TV which means they made culture accessible for a larger group of people and so give them cultural competence. This process still proceeds in the United States and now also occurs in other countries where they Americanize themselves.
