Wiki help - photos

From Tribewanted

Anyone can add photos to any Wiki page. Here's how to do it:

1. Put your photo on a public server. photobucket.com is a good one. It takes about 5 seconds to create an account and it's free.

2. Once you've uploaded your photo to photobucket, go to My Album (at the top of the photobucket page) and copy the URL Link that is shown under each photo.

3. Click the edit tab on the Wiki page where you want to add the photo. Paste the URL Link. It should look something like this:

http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r344/myname/mypic.jpg

4. Click the Show Preview button and check it out. You may need to add blank lines before or after the URL Link to get it to display the way you want it. Click Save Page when it's good-to-go.

That's it!

Tips

  • If there is text before or after the photo, you may want to add a blank line in between. That separates the photo from the text.
  • You can also arrange photos across the page, just add the URL links with a single space in between.
  • Keep in mind that some people using this Wiki have slow Internet connections (like on the island!) Big pictures should be avoided, so resize them before you upload them to photobucket.
  • If you want to post a lot of pictures, they should be on a separate page with a link from the main topic page. That way, people can read the topic and decide if they want to wait for the photos to download on a slow Internet.
  • Only post photos that are suitable for viewing by the general public.
