Bula from UCL

Bula!

We’re the team from University College London (UCL) working with Tribewanted to develop a sustainability plan.

Your ideas, suggestions and thoughts are vital to its development.

The Tribewanted project is all about creating a sustainable eco-community and enjoyable tourist destination. The aim of the sustainability plan is to help Tribewanted make the ‘Green Dream’ a reality. The plan will provide guidance on all aspects of the Vorovoro community development, applying best practice research which embraces the Tribes core values and the ideas of its members.

The UCL Team is composed of five post-graduate students from a variety of backgrounds, connected by our commitment to environmental sustainability. This plan forms part of the MSc in Environmental Systems Engineering programme at UCL.

Check us out on our Tribewanted member pages:

Tori Mark Tom Chitty Kristy

Over the coming weeks the UCL team will be developing the plan, and we want to involve all Tribewanted members as much as possible. In two weeks time (end Feb) we will post some of our sustainable development proposals for you to comment on. To start with though, we would like any contributions you can make to the key areas listed below.

(Please note: this is a catchall phase, so please submit contributions even if they have been posted before. We want to get all the relevant information in one place)

Some of the key topic areas for the plan are:

Water, Energy, Waste, Food, Accomodation, Activities, Environmental Conservation.

Contributions can be posted on the Sustainability Plan forum

If there are large files, or anything you would like to send to us direct, you can send them to: (deleted)

We look forward to hearing from you!

Last minute March Chief

Craig Enderby from Wiltshire England has been on Vorovoro for one week and would love to stay longer and a real make a difference by being the tribes march Chief. Craig made a great podcast around the Kava bowl the other night but unfortunately somewhere between the last bowl of kava and the digital age, it got lost. So Craig will be posting his manifesto on the community soon - his flights are on hold, and he's just waiting for your vote!

Pictured: Craig weaves bamboo with the boys from Matai Labasa. Junior, an ironic name considering he's the leader of the gang, said: "Craig will be a good leader because now he can weave bamboo." So there you have it. Vote now, or vote once you've read Craig's manifesto...
