It's happening: First footers head to Vorovoro

First Footers from UK, USA and New Zealand are already heading towards Vorovoro with some tribe members landing in Fiji yesterday. Chief Poques, our first tribal chief logged on to the community forum from Fiji to say Bula:

Chief Poques here,a big welcome from Fiji to you all. We all arrived safely and are in the Grand eastern waiting for Chief Bengazi to collect us in the fishing boat which was brought to transport us all to the Island.

We have Badawgy, Dixie, Kapti and myself packed and ready. Just brought our Kava from the local market F$ 38.

Everyone is very excited and ready to hit the beach. I have many pictures , but it will take a while to uplaod so you will have to bare with me a while.

The best thing so far was the internal flight from Nadi. Awesome views as we flew into Labassa. We could see Vorovoro from the air, a wonderful sight...

You are going to love it out here folks . The people are just fantastic and the weather is very hot..

Hope to give you more info about the Island after I return to Labassa later in the week before everyone else arrives.

So I'll sign off for now and give you all a bigger report and pictures before Friday..

All my love and love you all Chief Poques

Booking extra time on the island

We have had a number of tribe members who have asked the question regarding purchasing extra weeks on the island. Firstly, we need to stress that we cannot guarantee that you can have extra days / weeks on the island, this will be on an as and when basis, if the island has not reached capacity.

The extra cost for staying on the island will be: $300 FJD / £90 / $170 USA per week or $50 FJD / £15 / $28 USA per day.

In order to extend your stay on the island in this way, you will need to ensure that you have a flexible plane ticket. You will be able to e-mail sarajane@tribewanted.com just before you leave for the island in order to see whether it may be viable to extend your stay. Payment for extra time on the island will be made on the island.

Tribe votes for no shrine

A discussion as to whether tribewanted should have a shrine on the island, for people of a religious persuasion has led to a vote with tribe members voting in a majority against a shrine on the island.

Please note that this vote is based on people believing that it is not in the tribe's interest to spend money on a shrine but many people not having any problems with individuals meditating, reflecting and worshiping according to their own belief's privately. In order to catch up with the discussion please head over to the 'God' thread
