Full Name: Violet Guinevere Geneva

Nicknames: Violet, Vi [Although, only people she's close with can call her Vi. If people she doesn't know or like try to call her by Vi, she's been known to hex them.]

Age: 17

Blood: Pure

Physical Description

Violet has naturally straight and sleek, jet-black hair that falls down her back and stops about half-way down her bottom. Ordinarily, she brushes it straight and leaves it, but she has been known to pull it up into a ponytail when she’s working on her homework. She always has a devious glint I her pale grey eyes. Her skin is very pale and she has a naturally cold stare. People are often intimidated just by her looks, and those that don’t know her rarely speak to her, especially those from other houses. She is unusually tall and thin, standing around 6’2” and weighing in at about 110 pounds. She could be considered attractive to some, perhaps if she was a warmer person.

Brief History

Gregory Geneva, Violet’s grandfather was born in 1925 to her great-grandparents, Belle and Winston Geneva. At the age of 23, Gregory married a young pure-blood witch named Cassiopeia Bulstrode, who was 18 at the time. They lived together quite happily in a small town in Scotland before having their first of three children in 1953. They christened their first child, a boy, Jonathan. With scruffy dark brown hair and black eyes, Jonathan grew to age 4 before they had their second child. Another boy, Gregory and Cassiopeia named this one Bernard. Bernard’s skin was very pale and his hair very dark. His eyes were hazelnut colored and he was an unusually quiet boy. Gregory and Cassiopeia had their third child in 1959, when Bernard was 2 and Jonathan was 6. They named their last child, their new baby girl, Marilynn. Her hair was just as dark as Bernard’s, but her eyes were as black as coal, like Jonathan’s.

Jonathan had a fiancé, Violet, but never had the chance to marry her. He became a Death Eater when he left Hogwarts, when he was 18. He died at age 27, in 1980, killed by an Auror, just before Voldemort’s first demise. Marilynn, who was quite popular at Hogwarts with her pale face, much like that of a porcelain doll and her short black hair that framed her face perfectly was the first of the three to be married. At age 26, she married a pure-blood man who went by Christopher Walnet. At the wedding, Bernard sat next to the groom’s younger sister, Guinevere. Her hair was long, sleek and light brown and she had very light skin with pale silver eyes. Bernard thought she was absolutely beautiful.

After dating for 3 years, Bernard and Guinevere decided to get married, in early-1988. Bernard, a Death Eater since age 20, did not go looking for Voldemort after he was defeated in 1981 by the Boy Who Lived. He continued his job in the Ministry of Magic as a worker in the Department of Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures. Guinevere, who never officially became a Death Eater, (but often helped Bernard with his Dark Arts work) stayed at home to care for their children, the first of which was born in 1988, ten months after their marriage. They named him Nathanial Bernard.

Nate grew up like any regular boy. His hair was dark, ash colored, his eyes midnight black, and he usually kept to himself, but he spoke his mind when he felt he needed. Two years later, in 1990, another addition was made to the Geneva family.

Violet Guinevere Geneva, named in honor of Jonathan and his fiancé, was a lot like both of her parents. With hair like her mother’s, although the color was her father’s, and her mother’s pale skin and light grey eyes, Violet grew up a very quiet child, just as Bernard had. She rarely spoke, and when she did it was in a whisper, but she was by no means disrespectful to her parents or her elder brother. She learned to be polite to those she felt deserved it, and her family always deserved her good manners. They hardly ever upset her, and she usually got everything she asked for, which was not much. Despite their wealth, Violet did not require much. Growing up, both Violet and Nate were very ‘pureblooded’ in nature, meaning that they were taught to “look down upon” those with “dirty blood” which they took to heart quite quickly.

Lord Voldemort was defeated in 1997 by the Boy Who Lived. At ages 7 and 9, just after the Dark Lord was banished, both Nate and Violet learned that their father was a Death Eater. They became quite interested in the Dark Arts. Nate started Hogwarts a few years later, in the year 1999. He was sorted into Slytherin and was very adept at Defense Against the Dark Arts, neither of which surprised the Genevas. Violet could not wait to reach age 11.

The time came and Violet received her Hogwarts letter. Although she did not ask for them, she received only the best robes, books, cauldrons and other magical items for school. Nate was already a third year when Vi started Hogwarts, and made a point to show her around the school. He was the only one that really ever understood Violet and she confided in him a few times, but usually kept to herself. Not a lot of people talked to her, but she was not a loner. She made her fair few friends and was quite content with them. She was not a leader at Hogwarts, but she was not a follower either: she was herself. She did not get into a lot of trouble, but she served her occasional detention for hexing younger students. Her years at Hogwarts flew past, and before she knew it, she was in her 7th year, and atop her DADA class.

Personality

Violet keeps to herself, and scarcely talks to those she does not know. If invited into a conversation, Violet will speak softly, as she always does. She can be polite when she wishes but if someone annoys her for any reason, she is very capable of being bitterly sardonic with her comments. No one at Hogwarts has ever heard her raise her voice. She usually speaks in a low whisper. Vi keeps her feelings bottled up; she does not cry in front of others, and the only smile you will see from her is that of a conniving “I know something you don’t know” smirk. She gets annoyed with people easily and when truly angry, Violet sometimes raises her voice to an edgy, low undertone. Although her facial expression hardly changes, it is fairly easy to know when Vi is angry or elated or depressed. One must only look at her eyes to know her true feelings. She is also a very independent person.

Strengths

Violet considers emotions a weakness, therefore she feels her lack of emotion makes her stronger. She feels that those who are as misfortunate enough as to show others how they feel will only end up powerless and weak in the long-run. She is an average student in school, achieving her highest grades in Potions and Defense Against the Dark Arts. Although she ranks run of the mill in most of her classes, she is at the top of her Defense Against the Dark Arts class. She is currently working on mastering the Patronus Charm in her free time, and, although her Patronus stills resembles a wisp of silvery smoke, she is sure that she can see slit-like eyes and forked tongue every time she practices.

Weaknesses

Since Violet bottles up her feelings, it is very hard for other people to understand her, so she hardly has a chance of getting help for her problems. Her eyes are a dead giveaway of how she is feeling though, and despite how she acts, it would be easy for someone to know what she is actually thinking (if that someone knew where to look and was able to recognize the emotion in her eyes.) She considers this a weakness because she considers emotion a weakness. She allows herself a devious smirk every now and again because it makes her victim wary and nervous, and that makes her feel powerful, something she craves. Her power-hungry nature is probably her biggest weakness. As far as classes go, she has never been quite the Herbologist. She thinks the entire course is a waste of time.

Hobbies and Interests

Above all, Vi possesses a keen interest towards the Dark Arts. She bewitches her books to look like ordinary Quidditch Strategy books or Charm guides, when in reality they are Dark books filled with a plethora of sinister hexes, deviant potion-making steps and information on mysterious Dark artifacts. Most students are too intimidated by her appearance to ask why in the world a girl like her would be reading up on Charms notes. Violet does not enjoy Quidditch, playing or watching, because she thinks it is a meaningless game. She has attended only one match during her entire time at Hogwarts, but savors the time when the whole castle is empty and she has expendable time on her own. She does not mind the company of people that are like her, and have the respect to keep quiet when someone does not want to be bothered, but she finds herself hindered by the general population at Hogwarts.
