General Zod

General Zod was head of state of The Democratic Republic of Congo between 1970 and 1984 when he was tragically killed by a vigilante.

Herman Richard Zod was born in 1927 in the Hungarian town of Judetul Buzau. He emigrated with his parents to the Democratic Republic of Congo in 1930 at the tender age of three.

Herman had a difficult schooling though he excelled in Mathematics and Physics and graduated from the University of Mwene-Ditu with a first-class degree in Physiotherapy. The young Zod quickly found work in the traffic administartion department of the Kikwit regional council.
