Biography

From The Pardusian Chronicles

Scithas Tor was born on the plant Eridani, several years prior to the Great War between the Federation and Empire. His family earned a living by fishing the waters of the Azure Sea aboard the small fishing boat, Captain’s Pride and selling their catch to the large factory ships that processed and packaged seafood for export off-planet. He was the youngest of three children. The oldest Tor son, Mafic Tor, stayed aboard Captain’s Pride and became her first mate. Scithas Tor’s sister, Eliza Tor, enlisted in the Federal Military and served on Sol as a logistics coordinator aboard the Amsterdam Space Elevator, where she became involved with the resistance movement founded by Jeff Sheridan. Many supplies being transported off-planet mysteriously made their way into the hands of the resistance, along with the cargo manifest and flight logs of freighters suspected of trading with the Empire.

During this time Scithas studied remote sensing techniques, holographic cartography and the oceanography of Eridani, in the hopes of landing a Federal job as a resource manager on planet. It was here, during his Freshman year, he met his future wife, Nancy, a student of xeno-botany who was enrolled in one of his remote sensing courses. While taking a geopolitics course to fill out his credit requirements, Scithas became fascinated with the geopolitical framework of Eridani, which in turn led him to the study of interplanetary geopolitics. As the war between the Empire and Federation escalated, Scithas interest in geopolitics grew stronger and he began neglecting his academic studies in favor of studying the war and the series of events that led to the conflict. After studying the war for several years (and being placed on and off of academic probation), Scithas began to speculate a third party was purposefully escalating the conflict between the Empire and Federation. Scithas talked to his sister, Eliza, while they were both taking a holiday with their family on Eridani, mentioning his third party theory to her. In private, Eliza later told Scithas about the resistance, that Jeff Sheridan had proposed ‘his’ theory many years ago and that the threat was real. Scithas returned to the university and began taking his remote sensing studies more seriously in the hope of using the knowledge to help the resistance movement gather intelligence. He swore to himself not to discuss the resistance with his fiancé out of concern for her safety and in an effort to keep his sisters involvement a secret.

His fiancé, Nancy, was delighted when Scithas became more involved with his academic studies but grew concerned by his constant preoccupation with matters he refused to discuss with her. The tension between them grew until it culminated in a heated argument. Nancy refused to marry Scithas if he chose to keep secrets from her. Scithas refused to tell Nancy about what was happening and she broke off their engagement. One year later, after Scithas graduated from the university, his sister put him in contact with the Federal Secret Service where he worked as an intelligence analyst until the wars end. After the conflict, he contacted Nancy, who had married a Federal fighter pilot that was KIA during the war. He apologized to her for not being honest and explained what had happened. In time, the bond between the two grew once more. They were finally married and Scithas adopted Nancy’s daughter from her first marriage, Becky. Both Scithas and Nancy now serve about the Federal fighter craft, Lacuna and return to Eridani when they can to visit Becky at the New London Children’s Crèche.
