John Doe is a mystery sci-fi television series set in Seattle, Washington. It revolves around the title character, mystery man John Doe, who remembers nothing about himself but possesses the sum total of all other human knowledge. He applies this knowledge to earn a very comfortable living and to investigate his past, hoping to learn who he is. In the course of his investigations, he befriends Detective Frank Hayes and, in the role of a private investigator, helps him to solve difficult cases.

The scar

John Doe has a mysterious scar above his right pectoral, shaped something like a glyph or an astrological sign. It can be described as a C with a small circle crossing the upper left arc of the C and two vertical bars crossing the bottom center arc. There are some iron (or iron alloy, or otherwise magnetic) fragments under the scar. The scar's cause, meaning and purpose are unknown.
