The Fate Distortion Crystals were created by the ancient Treesians of the Old Universe.
A great dimensional war between the divinities of good and the demons of evil left their world scarred by battle. Though the forces of good did emerge victorious, the true scourge of their world was the numerous dimensional rips caused by the conflict. Slowly the multiverse of alternate realities began to merge and all shifted towards chaos. energies of mortals and gods alike were mostly spent in the battle, but before everything could become one eternal twirling mess of nonsense, they devised a plan: the seven most powerful surviving champions would focus their life energies into powerful crystals, and these seven crystals would be used to forge an Elemental Seal that would forever block dimensional travel.
The effort was successful, but the damage to the old universe was done. The last star Omega exploded and a new universe began from the old. All that remained was the Elemental Seal and the seven powerless crystals. From the seven facets of the Elemental Seal seven new forces were created in the universe; the six mighty Quintessences and the seventh force, Chrono, to act as an impartial balance.
Untold ages passed. The Quintessences created mighty gods from their mere shadows, and those gods created countless stars and numerous worlds, and breathed life into much of the universe. Yet, a flaw with the Elemental Seal emerged. The Seal was not created by divine power. It was brilliantly designed, but not perfect. It had a flaw. Power was seeping slowly back from the Seal to the seven crystals that had created it. The crystals had come to rest on a planet called Micras but were scattered over several dimensions in the multiverse. Over millions of years, the power of the crystals increased and the souls of the champions that sacrificed their lives began to reemerge and awaken, and they realized the terrible danger to the universe that would occur of the Elemental Seal lost much of its power. The crystals searched the multiverse for new champions to take their place and repair the Seal for good.
