With the slightest touch, a Lawgiver can discern a target’s emotions towards her. She is instantly aware of all emotional-based feelings, Intimacies or Motivation(s) the target may have concerning her (love, anger, hatred, etc) but cannot discern thoughts. For a point of willpower, she automatically knows if the target’s emotions are the subject of Unnatural Mental Influence. At Essence 6, this is no longer a Charm action and has no mote cost. The Solar, however, must still spend 1wp to determine Unnatural Mental Influence.

This is also an Investigation Charm, requiring Inv 4, Ess 3 and an Excellency.

The Solar states the name/known name of target, # of targets up to Essence, 5m each. Direct attacks from these targets cannot knock the Solar below –4. Pushing her into a pit of acid or having Allies do the job is fine, though.

  • Doubles Base appearance
  • Increases penalty to MDV by 1, even if the penalty is already at 3.
  • Must make Valor roll diff 2 or Wp Diff 5 to attack, social or otherwise. Failure, no action, botch flee in terror. Success or failure, target’s DV suffers by ½ Solar’s Essence.
  • Unnatural Mental Influence, 5 wp ignores for scene.

COMMENTS: Does this Charm increase the cost associated with Majestic Radiant Presence at all? Is it still possible to use the weaker, original version of Majestic Radiant Presence? Additionally, the wording of the Charm is rather... well, simple: it could be a lot clearer. For instance, what defines a characters' base appearance score: is it their Appearance before Charms or other modifiers, but after Attribute damage or Mutations, or is it their Appearance before /all/ modifiers, including Attribute damage and Mutations, or is it something else? Additionally, what penalty is being increased by 1? If it's the Appearance modifier, as might be guessed based on context, what would happen if the target's Appearance is still higher than the Solar's, even after the aforementioned doubling: would the Solar's MDV penalty be increased by -1, to a maximum of -4, or would it be reduced by 1, to a maximum of 2? Finally, is there some kind of shorter-term WP expenditure- like 1WP per action- to ignore the effects of the Charm for a single Action or some amount of time, or is it only the 5WP lump sum to ignore it for the Scene? None is listed, but given the fact that most mortals don't even HAVE 5 WP...

It is by Divine Mandate that Solars are given Lordship over all Creation. Though many would contest this, it is still a fundamental law of reality. All those that would oppose it do so at their own peril. For the length of one scene any foe that strikes against the Solar becomes a creature of darkness for the purposes of any Holy-keyworded charm or effect. They also suffer an external penalty equal to the user's essence on every roll/action for the length of the scene.
