The Atomic Fireballs
Heavily influenced by Harlem Jump bands of the 1920s and New Orleans jazz, the Atomic Fireballs are a great, up-tempo band with some awesome songs.

Better Than Ezra
Like Cowboy Mouth above, a New Orleans born band. A lot of the music is good for setting moods, both in New Orleans and in general. Good stuff all around.

Big Bad Voodoo Daddy
Even if the word "Voodoo" wasn't in the name, they're an awesome band - mixing jazz, swing and blues into something that really fits the up-beat tone of the gam...sorry, my bullshit allergies are kicking up. You're all gonna die.....again.

Cowboy Mouth
A New Orleans band, born and bred. Their sound shows a lot of influence in music that's traditional to the region, though with a much harder edge.

Dr. John
Also known as Mac Rebennack, Dr. John's put a library of blues and rock about voodoo and New Orleans. Besides, what other version of "Iko Iko" are you going to use? The Grateful Dead's? Seriously.

Lee Presson and the Nails
It's hard to find a band that captures the feel of New Orleans AND exudes an aura of good-nature morbidity quite like Lee Presson and the Nails. A lot of their stuff covers other groups, but all of it is good.

Luis Armstrong
If I need to explain this addition to the list, something has seriously gone wrong.

Royal Crown Revue
Likewise, the Royal Crown Revue pretty much started the modern 'swing' music revival, and produced some great tracks too.

Squirrel Nut Zippers
A North Carolina-based Jazz band. It's jazz, really, really good jazz, and what else is New Orleans known for? Alright, who's the smart-ass that said blues?
