Appearance
Jaeyoon is firm and muscular from years of football. His hair is dark brown, kept short and tidy. He has fair skin, lean to medium build, and a stud on each ear. JaeYoon looks very approachable and very cuddly. He might remind you of a kid rather than a teenage boy, actually. He maintains a sparkly-blinding-happy smile almost all the time.
History
JaeYoon comes from a rich Korean family of five. His father was a big business owner who loves hopping countries (mostly Europe and Asia); hence, little JaeYoon spent most of his early years home-schooled, and junior high in two different countries. JaeYoon has a perfect heir-material big brother. Approximately ten years older, big brother is the epitome of perfect Korean son-in-law: smart, polite, well-groomed, hardworking, worldly, heir of a flourishing business, and, most importantly, straight. Shin boys are raised to be such, and Jay could have easily be another son to be proud about, if only he wasn't [1] naive, and [2] gay.
Jay has known about his sexuality since he knows what it's like to have a crush on someone - and after a bit of struggle with his faith, he is relatively accepting of it. His mother is all right with it, but it just isn't a subject to be discussed on or off dinner table. His father and brother mostly pretend as if it doesn't exist. The fact that his brother is the golden boy of the family alleviates the pressure and attention from JaeYoon quite a bit. JaeYoon doesn't hate the men in his family; in fact, he was thankful for his brother for being a firstborn.
Then the head of Shin family decides to stay for indefinite amount of years in Korea. This means reacquainting with extended family members and colleagues. JaeYoon is not pleased. Daddy is also not pleased. Daddy is afraid that the relatives will hear about JaeYoon's "deviance". Hence, daddy decides to send JaeYoon to international boarding school.
JaeYoon knows, but he pretends not to, because acknowledging it means acknowledging that he doesn't like his father -- and while that might be half true, he is not comfortable admitting it.
Personality

JaeYoon is a kid in many ways. He's naive, honest, genuine, and while he stops believing that the world is made of cotton candy and sugar not too long ago, he still believes that people are basically kind, that good will always triumph over evil, and that God loves all His creations. He's the kind that trusts people very easily and believes that everyone deserves a two-hundredth chance. He's also sensitive and easily caught in wave of various emotions. His feelings are reflected in his face most of the time, which makes him a lousy liar. He's quick to apologize and quick to forgive. He likes most things. He's also very, very polite and careful as to not offend people.
On a deeper level, JaeYoon still has a hidden, negative side he prefers to not show; not only because he's embarrassed by it, but also because he doesn't want to trouble people. He's also, unfortunately, a pushover.
JaeYoon might have convinced himself that he was in love with a boy from his old junior high school in Japan. He's still sad about having to move to Korea :( Second Heaven reminds him of his great time in Japan, so.
