Appearance
Caramel complexion, dark brown eyes, black hair. At first glance DJ looks black. At second glance, her mixed heritage is readily apparent in the structure of her face. Her hair is long, about halfway down her back, and almost always kept in cornrows and braids, varying in the amount of beads strung through them. Her uniform is worn somewhat sloppily, she's too lazy to put effort into its appearance and it shows. Out of uniform, she commonly dresses in leather, like a tomboy, or anything that will make her look suitably badass. Skirts are so rare as to be nonexistant, heels never. Her lipstick and fancy eye makeup are the only things she keeps girly about her from day to day, and only because it looks suitably badcore. (Also she has a Texas accent and I'm putting that here cuz idk where else to say it 8D )

Personality
First and foremost, DJ hates her name with a passion. Calling her Dagnar, Dagnar Jarmila, Jarmila, or anything that isn't DJ or a variant thereof (Deej, D, etc) is grounds for punch in the face. She hates her parents for this abomination of a name and won't even admit to having it. She'll accept Miss Bodilsen from faculty or just Bodilsen if you have a habit of calling people by their last names. But if you're on a first name basis, it's DJ or nothing at all.
DJ is a badass. Plain and simple. She maintains this image very easily because it's just who she is! She's a tough chick who takes no shit from anybody and doesn't hesitate to speak her mind/voice her opinions/tell you she thinks you're fucking stupid! This extends to everyone, she does not treat authority figures with any more respect than she'd treat her peers. Earning DJ's respect is a very hard thing to do, but once it's done she'll respect you forever and would follow you to the ends of the earth.
She's amazingly loyal, even if her loyalty is hard to earn. She's not an easy person to be friends with, even though she might seem very social, but once you become friends with her it's pretty much that way for life.
School-wise she is an AMAZING slacker of EPIC proportions and is perfectly happy with her D grades because hell a D is passing! D+? That's overachieving! C? WHOA Let's not get hasty!! What's a B look like again? It's not that she's dumb (but she isn't exactly MENSA material either), it's just that she doesn't care and isn't interested in paying attention during class, doing homework, or studying.
History
DJ's father was born and raised in Switzerland. He came to the US to start a better life for himself in his early 20's, ended up becoming a civilian contractor for the US military, and met DJ's mother while he was working at Fort Bliss, Texas. DJ was born, and everyone lived happily ever after. For a time.
When she was 8, there was an automobile accident. Her father was killed instantly. Her mother was comatose for three months before finally dying. Relatively speaking, DJ got out fairly unscathed, her injuries were easily treated and healed without complication. She was sent to live with her mother's sister, who was the closest living relative.
Her aunt did not turn out to be the best choice for kinship care. DJ wore long sleeves to school, used the "I fell" excuse so often that it started being automatic, and became very withdrawn with few close friends. She would get locked in the closet for hours at a time as punishment. While not an extreme abuse case, it was a sadly typical one. When she was 12, one of her Jr. High teachers started to suspect that things were not quite right and sent a report to the child protection services. The investigation was carried out, DJ was taken from her aunt and given into the custody of her grandparents, there was a trial, charges were pressed, her aunt was sent to prison. Overall, standard fare.
Her grandparents were much, much better guardians than her aunt, and in a few years DJ had become your average Texan teenager, almost like her abuse history had never happened. Repression does wonders, doesn't it? She can't shake her claustrophobia though, no matter how hard she tries to ignore it.
She was on the school baseball team in her freshman year of high school and she got ended up getting scouted and offered a scholarship at a prestigious boarding school on the grounds of her playing ability. Her grandparents jumped at this education opportunity for her and she was pushed into attending Second Heaven.
