Appearance
At a glance, Arden looks like a tall, skinny white kid. His features are perennially set into a sort of nondescript, almost annoyed expression. Otherwise girls might think he's cute or something.
He does, however, have rather well developed arms, legs and upper body, as he puts a lot of time and effort into making sure that he's what baseball afficionadoes and scouts call a 'five-tool player.'
History
Most of Arden's childhood is an exercise in How To Be A Doting Parent as far as Will and Judith Tide are concerned. As far as Arden is concerned, yeah, he had it better than most kids. Quite a lot better. His father is a successful international business lawyer who comes from what is referred to as 'old money' from the South, so the family has never really been wont for anything, Arden's father's success only added to the already huge Tide family coffers. This made the man a bit ostentatious, which had the side-effect of making Arden a target for bullies as well as opportunists.
This is the main reason why Arden's such a reclusive, quiet young man with quite the temper- he learned to trust few people due to having been abused by some less fortunate than him that only wanted a piece of his family's wealth, and kick much ass as his way of coping with the harassment of bullies.
He rued most of grade school because of the constant visits to the principal's office and reprimands from his mother due to his scrapping, but the added detention never really bothered him- in the end, all those fights had the effect of kids slowly coming around to respect him and his space. It wasn't until a counselor recommended some sort of physical activity to deal with his temper that Arden's true talent emerged.
He had a natural hand-eye coordination that boggled the mind, so he picked up the game of baseball and never set it down. As high school approached and Arden's performances meant his team continually embarrassed others, there was talk of perhaps him having the sort of talent that professional scouts look for.
This horrified his parents, since they did not want their child to forego a good shot at a top-notch education. Knowing that anywhere he went in the U.S. he would be besieged by scouts looking for the next big thing, and Arden had that potential, even at the young age of 15.
So, they sent him abroad.
The rest, as they say, is history.

In a word: surly. Arden doesn't have many friends. He rather likes it that way. He's quiet most of the time, never participates in class unless forced, and is typically short and curt when he needs to speak. He prefers to let actions speak for him- be it a fist to the face, a swing of his bat sending a ball over the fence, or simply walking away if he finds you boring.
In truth, Arden is remarkably insecure. He's been burned many times by people that pretended to be his friend just to get something out of him, or people that made him feel like crap just because he was born into a more fortunate situation than others. His response was to retract into a thick shell, and to simply lash out with violence to those that get too close.
But to those special few that manage to get past that shell? He'll be the most loyal friend that they'll ever have.

Why Second Heaven?
Arden's parents want him to have a top-notch education outside of the distractions that most American kids that are good at sports have to deal with. He doesn't care, honestly, as long as the scouts come eventually.

- Arden can actually speak with a Southern drawl, but chooses to hide it.
- Arden has actually been in contact with Theo Epstein, Brian Cashman, Omar Minaya, Bill Stoneman and Jim Hendry, regarding the possibility of eventually drafting him and signing him to a high-paying contract. But since he has not graduated high school yet nor has turned 18, they haven't been particularly serious talks.
