Martina is barely 20 years of age and completely at odds with her life. She has no real ambitions or real motivation.

Martina is most commonly known as 'Marty' and generally refuses that anyone ever dare call her by her real name.

She's actually very immature for her age.

History

Martina was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta. That being said, she's not a cowboy and she's not exactly a Conservative.

Growing up, Marty had two loving parents, a mother that operated a sex toy shop, and a Dad who worked in the trades. They made good money and Marty was a spoiled little brat. Fast forward to high school and Martina was a bored spoiled brat who only wanted to read slash. It was at this point in time that she noticed a distinct lack of creativity in her peers, and decided she would become a New Democrat just to piss everyone off.

She then met her boyfriend Josh, and they did crazy teenage things like getting drunk and having sex in his basement (with 70s tv on in the background). When they weren't skipping and drinking, they were making fun of the zombie masses that inherited their school (with some smoking up behind the dumpster to get through Math).

Marty graduated high school in 2006, and her parents made her enroll at the University of Calgary. She hated it immensely and quickly dropped out before her academic probation came into effect. She then decided to work Full time at Tim Horton's until she's ready to face a life of call centers, or alcohol poisoning, whichever comes first.

Personality

She's outgoing, loud and believes that she's always right. She's not the brightest person out there, and could probably care less about what anyone thinks of her. She's awesome in her mind, and that's all that matters. She can spend hours trying to convince someone she's right.

Abilities

Marty has the ability to control and manipulate circuits. More specifically, she has the ability to close an open circuit, or open a closed circuit. Marty"s powers only effect electric devices that are directly connected to an energy source either via wires or plugs. Key appliances that can be manipulated include: lights and lamps, radios and televisions (as long as they aren"t battery operated) and typical household appliances (blenders, coffee makers, microwaves, etc).

Marty discovered her abilities by accident, oddly enough while drunk and watching Happy Days. The TV went out and her ex-boyfriend asked her to fix it. Her reply was "Who do you think I am, Fonzie? You think hitting it will turn it back on?" Apparently, hitting the television did work. The next day, while sober, she attempted to control the lights again and was successful. That was around a year ago. Marty doesn't really know what to use her powers for, other then bragging about how she can be the clapper and fix things with brute force. It amuses her for some odd reason.

What Marty Knows (aka, what she does)

  • Clapping and Stomping : Since she's had so much practice in her attempts of proving she can control the lamps, every time she claps/stomps the lights will react accordingly. So they'll shut off, or turn on. Always. She can't control this. At this point in time, it's a subconscious reaction.
  • Finger snapping: This is recent. In her attempts to see how much like Fonzie she really is (and have a horde of men jump to her) she discovered that she can turn on her radio. In theory she could change channels, byu actively thinking of the circuit involved, but Marty never listened in science. If she took the time to think about it she would be able to turn on any appliance that she has chosen. That won't sink into her brain for a long time. For now, it's just the radio.
  • Hitting the Appliance: By hitting an appliance that has stopped working (monitor, projector, blender, toaster) Marty inadvertently closes the circuit by rerouting it. Of course, Marty doesn"t realize how technical her power is, she just knows that whacking stuff is good.

If Marty was given the opportunity to hone her skills

  • She would be able to manipulate any appliance.
  • She would no longer need physical gestures or movements. All she would need is the thought.
  • She would be capable of maintaining several open circuits at once. It's not all that useful, but could make a great parlor trick.

Currently Marty does not have the potential to hone any skills, and won't unless she magically finds a guru (which is very unlikely). Therefore how she uses her powers will always stay the same. Since Marty has no clue how a circuit even works, it"s highly unlikely she"ll ever be able to explain how she does what she does.
