PCA-IRCDayOne

From Pca Central

Okay! I'll make this quick, but it's important stuff.

As of 1/1/11, which I am affectionately calling Day 1, there will be some changes made to how the IRC is governed and functions. This isn't going to be a huge tectonic event (for the most part), but will bear notice as it means a new focus on making the IRC a nice place for new players as well as a place for old standbys to return to, with *as little drama as possible*. The following will occur, and will be expounded on as the details are hammered out.

1) All bans will be lifted as of Day 1, and progress towards more trouble will be forgiven. This will coincide with a change to how discipline is administered. There will no longer be any immediate permabans, save for egregiously horrible behavior out the gate, but the general progress will be: warning(rarely, warnings) -> ban for week/weeks, depending on severity/frequency of offense -> extended ban -> permaban. Basically a four strikes (three if you're a dick, two if you're just totally problematic) system. What will and won't get you banned will be elaborated on later.

2) As noted, rules will be elaborated on. This is mainly to make sure you all know what's cool and what's not. You'll see this within the week (today is 12/6/10).

3) There will likely be a mod shakeup. No details yet, but none of this is out of anger or something like that, more a move towards streamlining. Also, any mods (including and especially myself) will be *required* to have a more active hand in engendering roleplay and character development. Well, mostly roleplay.

4) Day 1 will coincide with an actual plotted event. This will be a *single-PC* thing, so once the info's out, you'll need to think about who to commit to it. The way it will be structured, it won't cut into the 'timing' of active personal roleplay (most likely occuring in a set amount of time fit in the middle of everything).

5) There will be a stronger focus on leaving drama and your personal issues at the door, since the IRC is supposed to be for silly, wacky, funny, intense and occasionally sexy (but not TOO sexy) play, as well as general OOC silliness so long as it's not too over-the-top.. You can be grumpy, but don't let it drag down OOC and *especially* IC. This will likely be folded into rules, but bears special mention, as it seems to be our one biggest problem.

6) I'm thinking about a handy-dandy wikithing, detached from PCA Wiki, specifically for the IRC. Stuff like rules, running events, character info and the like so it's easy for new players to get comfy and for other players to have a quick idea of just what the pokemon their PC's hitting on (or just hitting) looks like.

More details as I flesh things out.
