A first year student of Ravenclaw House, Pimento Pepper is a Muggleborn witch who knew nothing of the magical world until she received her acceptance letter to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Pimento has a habit of introducing herself as "Pimento Pepper, first year Ravenclaw, anti-snogging activist, magical creatures enthusiast, Charms prodigy, and future expert of hexes, jinxes, and curses."
It has sometimes been said that Pimento was sorted into the wrong House, and should be a Gryffindor or a Slytherin instead. Like a Slytherin, she is ambitious-- founder of the Anti-Snogging Society, bent on stomping out the ravages of puberty from within the walls of the castle; not to mention her determination to master spells far beyond first year level (for example, she's already mastered the Summoning Charm, which is fourth year material). Like a Gryffindor, she is bold and frank and sometimes rash; undoubtedly, she is a leader among littles. Still, at heart, she is most definitely a Ravenclaw, with a great love for books and history, the desire to do well in her classes, a rather precocious vocabulary and a quick wit sharp as a rapier.
By and large, Pimento's best subject is Charms, followed by Transfiguration and Defense Against the Dark Arts. It would seem that her magical strength lies in wandwork, considering her weaknesses in Herbology and Potions classes. At the same time, she also does rather well in History of Magic, as she has a natural knack for remembering trivia such as names, dates, and events. Additionally, she actually reads the textbook, as she feels, having been raised a Muggle, that she's missed out on learning the rich history of the wizarding world and has a lot of catching up to do. Still, she excitedly anticipates her third year, when she'll finally be allowed to take Care of Magical Creatures.
Family and Background
Pimento Pepper is the second child and only daughter of a police officer and a dentist, Fred and Mary Louise Pepper, and has a brother, Alan, older than her by two years. They live in Tackleford, a cathedral city just north of the Midlands, in England. Pimento's mother actually named her after pimento peppers: she had craved it when she was pregnant and thought it would be cute to name her daughter like the mother in the fairy tale "Rapunzel" did. Pimento is the only witch in her immediate family.
For almost as long as they could remember, Pimento's parents didn't know what to do about their daughter. She somehow managed to get into quite a few scrapes at school, and had almost constant problems with bullies and the like, and, despite being a very bright child, she somehow earned the disfavor of many a teacher and school administrator. By the age of ten, Pimento had been through five different schools, having been expelled from three of them for being a troublemaker. Without their parents knowledge, Pimento's brother Alan taught her how to fight "like a boy," so, as a result, instead of slapping and pulling hair and scratching as girls would normally do in a fight, Pimento doesn't hesitate to ball up her fist and throw punches, or else send her knee into an opponent's groin, her elbow to their solar plexus. Alan, her brother and best friend, was the only one who suspected there was something "different" about Pimento.
Friends and Enemies
Despite their vast differences in personality (one being a tomboy, the other, a girly girl), Pimento considers her best friend at Hogwarts to be Cassie Carys; she's the person she feels most comfortable around, and will often confide in Cassie things that she wouldn't dare tell anyone else. Another close friend is Ethan Tibble, also a Ravenclaw first year, who, despite being slightly on the lame side, is still a good friend, willing to go along with Pimento's plots and schemes. This "Ravenclaw trio" forms the backbone of the Anti-Snogging Society as well.
Someone who is both a friend and an enemy is Ravenclaw second year Gillichu Chandler. Though they butt heads hard and often, Pimento would grudgingly admit that she considers Gillichu a friend, if only because they share the same passion for magical creatures, in addition to the fact that Gillichu once saved her from drowning in the lake (for Pimento is very much aquaphobic and unable to swim).
Older students who Pimento knows and adores include Hannah Salix (who helps her practice hexes), Naia Bergren (who feeds her sweets and is a detective), and Jul Agate (who somehow became something of a substitute big sister). Pimento also seems to have a propensity for crushing on older Gryffindor boys, like Amaury Oniyama and, more recently, Jesse Martin.
Among her enemies at Hogwarts, Pimento would count the Daedals, particularly Tamara Collins, whom she once punched in the face. She has been bullied by Sadhana Joshi and Emma Travers.
More Information
Pimento's wand is made of hawthorn, is nine inches, with a unicorn hair center. Hawthorn often grows by itself, and is considered unlucky and shouldn't be brought into the house. At the same time, it is generally seen as a tree which brings good luck to the owner and prosperity to the land where it stands. Hanging hawthorn branches over the threshold should warn evildoers not to enter. Some believe that the Hawthorn is a holy plant. These various aspects will possibly be reflected in Pimento's personality now and as she grows as a witch. Right now in game, however, Pimento's wand is broken and, as such, she has been using a birchwood/dragon heartstring wand she borrowed from Hannah Salix, which, unbeknownst to Pimento, used to belong to Death Eater Gabriel Salix.
Pimento's favorite places to hang out are the library, the Owlery, and the Ravenclaw common room. Pimento is skinny and short, but quick and stronger than she looks. Her long auburn hair is constantly knotty and tangly because she hates to brush it and never puts it up. She never bothers to check whether her clothes match, and can often be seen wandering the halls with mismatched socks. She'll often take off her shoes in class if she thinks she can get away with it. She's very freckled and gets sunburnt easily. Since she's pretty clumsy, she's always got bruises, scrapes, and scabs, and skinned knees.
