From Mmc

Dear Applicant

Last night, the Review Group issued a statement building on the recommendations they made on Friday, 16 March 2007. In summary, it says that at a minimum, every eligible ST 2007 applicant will be invited for an interview. To read the full statement, go to http://www.mtas.nhs.uk/info/review_panel_2303.html

I understand that this has been a very difficult and challenging time for junior doctors applying to training programmes. The MMC teams in each country will continue to provide as much information and clarity about the new approach and what it means for you as we possibly can. We have developed a fact sheet for applicants (http://www.mtas.nhs.uk/info/faq_2303.html) which we hope will help.

Competition ratios are now available (http://www.mtas.nhs.uk/info/ST_2007_1/comp_ratio.html) on the MTAS website to help you consider your options.

The postgraduate deans have started working on the detailed plans that underpin the new recommendations. The details of these will be available on the MTAS and MMC websites by week commencing 2 April.

Applicants to Scotland should visit the MMCScotland website (www.mmc.scot.nhs.uk) for information about the process in Scotland. Applicants to Scotland will also be alerted to the information via DOTS and the SST messaging system. If you have applied to Scotland and have not yet registered with SST, please do so now as a matter of urgency: (https://www.nhsdots.org/SST/)

You will receive further emails as details become available.

If you have been offered interviews already, please do attend these interviews until the details of the new process have been clarified.

I hope this is of help to you.

Most sincerely

Professor Alan Crockard

National Director, MMC
