Yahoo goes green and Google goes black (13-Aug-07)

Many have started to use Blackle, the Google search engine with a black background, claiming that this saves energy. However Google has researched this and say that this isn’t the case.

Yahoo has also made attempts to go green with the title “Green Yahoo”, where it provides the opportunity to find out facts about the environment. It appears that a number of companies are using the site to promote their own green products.

Yahoo goes green and Google goes black In the ever changing world we live in there are always ways in which we can do things better.

There are now quite a few people using the Google search engine but with a black background as they claim it saves energy, Google seem to have done their own research into this and say it isn’t the case but I’m sure this argument will continue for some time to come.

Take a look at some of the options available like Blackle or Black Google. Apparently it is also not only environmentally friendly because of lower energy levels needed, it is apparently easier on the eye for those who make prolonged searches. Personally I’m not convinced, but its an interesting theory.

Not to be left out on innovation Yahoo have gone green with the aptly titled Green Yahoo. Here you can find facts about the environment and it seems to be heavily endorsed by those companies who want to promote their own green products such as HP. At the minute there doesn’t seem to be a UK site but I’m sure it will happen, its just a matter of time.

The Customer Street brand hasn’t exactly gone to these lengths, but we do listen to what we get told by our customers, and we do try to accommodate people wherever possible. When we launched the MoreUK site we geared it up specifically for the over 50’s. MoreUK has much cleaner lines than a lot of similar sites and is less fussy, this means that those who may not necessarily be used to navigating around websites will not have to do battle with multiple links that take then to others screens which are irrelevant.

One BIG feature of the site is the fact that at the click of a button you can enlarge the text on the site for easier reading. We also have a button that alters the colour on the site and again a click later you have high visibility which in effect makes the definition sharper. We will continue to make these small but very significant improvements to our products, I doubt that we will go green or black but we will certainly continue to be well read!
