The Grand Marshal of the Galactic Empire was born as Dzon Sanyon in 21 BBY on Byss. His parents later moved to Anchorhead, Tatooine. There, he met the Lars/Skywalker family, and was a childhood friend of Luke Skywalker. His parents, after moving from Byss, were now working as mushroom farmers, lower than the moisture farmers the Lars family were.

Dzhon was very discontented with this, and decided to take up hunting womp rats at the age of 16. He was often seen arguing with shopkeepers on the quality of his furs. He eventually managed to get a T-16 Skyhopper, which helped him move around and near Anchorhead, and help him continue on his hunts.

Shortly after, Luke and Biggs would also acquire their own, and this is where the tragic turning point of his life occurs. Luke, Biggs and Dzhon were attempting to navigate Beggar's Canyon, and the three were arguing the best way to do so. Eventually, Dzhon decided to go along with Luke's suggestion. However, a fatal engine error caused his skyhopper to crash.

Luke noticed this, and ran off to get help. However, in his injured state, Dzhon thought that Luke was gloating as he ran of cowardily, and his last thought before passing out was revenge. He was discovered by an Imperial medteam, and woke up in an Imperial hospital.

Grateful for their aid, Dzhon enlisted in the Academy after he recovered. When he was asked for his name, he replied: "Aden'la Darasuum", which in Mando'a, translates into everlasting revenge, what he intended to bring upon Luke.

He became Stormtrooper TS-664, and was a Captain in the Army by 0 BBY. In the confusion that followed the Battle of Yavin, he was promoted to Colonel in a year's time. Aden'la was transferred to the Imperial Navy, being made a Commander.

He was soon commanded a line of Star destroyers around Dantooine. In his battles at the time, he invented a new strategy involving the large use of frigates. He was called for service during the Battle of Endor, and his squad became active participants in the epic battle.

After the death of the Emperor, the Empire was once more thrown into confusion, and Aden'la gathered a small fleet, wiping aside all opposition (excluding Ysanne Isard), thereafter declaring himself first Warlord, then Grand Marshal, massing a large empire (larger than Hutt Space) in the Outer Rim.

He would loot the Emperor's throne room on Coruscant, and find, among other artifacts, a Sith Great Holocron and a large shard of the Kaiburr Crystal. Thus began his descent to the Dark Side.

The Remnant Threat

He then discovered plans for the First Death Star, and began to construct one near Iego, where such activity would not be noticed. He later moved it in 7 ABY to orbit Yavin 13 in an insidious plot to destroy the New Republic. In the event that this did not work, he sent his fleet to Iego, where it would remain safe - he thought the Death Star III could hold its own.

Yavin 13 was destroyed in a test of the turbolaser's effectiveness. When a certain Rebel spy brought with him an invasion force, he ordered a land-invasion of Yavin 4, and promised to head it himself. In the climatic duel involving Leia Organa and Han Solo, he was presumed to be killed. However, this was discovered to be a double.

Wrath of the Marshal

A mere half of a year later, he returned, and attempted - with assistance from two mysterious Dark Jedi he had recruited - to steal Darth Opacus' skeleton in a vain attempt to ressurect the Sith. While the theft failed, it served as a warning that the Grand Marshal was back - and out for revenge. He then lured Luke -and several of his companions- back to Anchorhead, and to Beggar's canyon.

There, he revealed his identity to Luke, and engaged him in an airspeeder chase down Beggar's Canyon to lure him away from his fleet attacking and overruning Anchorhead, and simultaneously carrying out the assasination of High Commander Binks and his Gungan force on Naboo. In a climatic lightsaber duel, he grievously injured Luke, but left him alive.

Though Luke did escape, he could not defend against the vengeful Marshal's fleet attacking the Third Death Star, Yavin 4, Dantooine, and Hoth. In one fell swoop, the Hope Beacon (the New Republic's name for the captured battlestation) had been destroyed, thanks to a proton torpedo in a certain thermal exhaust port, the temple at Yavin had fallen prey to arson once more, and half of Echo Base had to be evacuated.

With the Rebels in control of a puny area - only the Rebel's Inner Rim territories remained - Dzon Sanyon declared himself Emperor Aden'la Darasuum of the Galactic Empire in his private base near Iego. He transmitted his self-crowning across the Holonet, to the Rebels on Dac, even directly to Ysanne Isard herself. He then proceeded to restore Darth Opacus from beyond the grave.

Darth Opacus was one of many Sith Lords who participated in the Old Sith Wars, first joining in during the Mandalorian Wars in 3966 BBY. He was a feared military commander leading several divisons of Sith Troopers during this time, and the name Opacus became revered and well-known.

The tactician quickly climbed the ranks, earning his place among the Sith "hall of fame", now more than a mere commander. He was affectionately referred to as "Master of the Shadows" by his many apprentices (during the time the Sith were still a massive organization).

Despite his power and deep knowledge of the Dark Side of the Force, he was killed in the final conflict of the Old Sith Wars (the Jedi liberation of 400100500260026) in 3946 BBY, after an epic duel with his old master, Jedi Lord Caminus Amel, swearing to return to power even if it took 4000 years.

However, his corpse was still relatively intact, and was brought to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant for exhuming. Following thereafter, it would stay in the archives, relatively forgotten by most.

It was voted that Darth Opacus' corpse be put on display, to demystify the reign of the Sith for futuree generations. The exhibit was one of much controversy and was placed under maximmum security. The display also encompassed one of the Sith's many lightsabers.

Besides rekindling interest in the Jedi's long-time foes, this exhibit also served as a platform for the Grand Marshal to steal the artifacts, Opacus' body included - though not quite yet.

It is strongly hinted, though, that Lord Opacus's spirit survived through some arcane means and did not go mad after 4,000 years. It is possible that he took multiple hosts through the years, and merely switched hosts when the body began to deteriorate. All of this is mere speculation, and the truth may be more simple or more complex.

During the opening phases of the Clone Wars, many years later, the still-intact, though slightly rotting, corpse of Darth Opacus was moved to Yavin 4. It was kept inside the ancient Massassi Temple, and was once more forgotten.

However, once the Empire fell, the Grand Marshal, Dzhon Sanyon learned of a rumour of the corpse and weapon of a Sith Lord long dead on the moon, and decided to make it a second objective in his massive campaign to overrun the New Republic and take revenge on Luke Skywalker.

The Remnant Threat

Darth Opacus did not appear in the first part of the Grand Marshal Trilogy, but as said above, provided another cause for the Grand Marshal's operations in that time. It is also strongly hinted that Darth Opacus's spirit may have aided in the Grand Marshal's strategy and planning during this first campaign.

Wrath of the Marshal

Early in the story, the Marshal and his Acolytes planned to steal the skeleton and the saber. This, however, was thwarted thanks to Leia Organa's interference. Nevertheless, the Marshal made off with the Sith blade During the Marshal's second invasion of Yavin , he ordered his stormtroopers to seek out and raid the praxeum for the body.
