International Institute for Asian Studies, Netherlands

The International Institute for Asian Studies (IIAS) is an interdisciplinary research institute for the humanities and social sciences, based in Leiden and Amsterdam. IIAS stimulates international cooperation in Asian Studies, has its own fellowship programme for researchers from within the Netherlands and abroad, organises conferences, seminars and workshops, publishes a number of book series and the IIAS Newsletter. The position of Director is available from 1 December 2009 for 19 hours/ per week (0.5 fte)


Requirements:

-PhD (preferably Asia-related) plus several years research experience and proven publishing record

-Proven qualities and experience in the area of research policy, institute management, negotiation, networking and acquisition of research grants/subsidies.

-An inspirational manager

-Competences: visionary; ability to work in an academic environment, persuasiveness, results driven, and entrepreneurship
