{{!}} inserts a vertical bar "|" within a template parameter without delimiting the end of that parameter. It should be used only for inserting tables, or table columns, within a template. In all other cases, such as to merely display a vertical bar, it's better to use | or the almost equivalent (but verbose) <nowiki>|</nowiki>. --Ye Olde Luke (talk) 21:43, 7 January 2008 (EST)
