Protected pages are important pages that either are complete and don't need to be edited (such as Knowledge base, or must remain unchanged since they serve as redirects to more important pages (such as Main Page). Only an admin may edit these pages, though in most cases User:Dummmmmmy is the only one who needs to edit them.
