Kelli Trottier

Kelli is the daughter of Rene and Sherrill Trottier. Born into such a musical family, including her grandparents Martin and Olive Ferguson, Kelli was destined to be a musician. Although still a young woman, Kelli has many accomplishments. She started step dancing lessons at the age of five and the fiddle at the age of nine. She performed with her family for twelve years and played, sang and danced in Ontario and Quebec at numerous functions. Kelli amassed many dancing and fiddle trophies over those years and in a class of 35 contestants, became The Maritime Fiddle Champ at 18.

Kelli has taught dancing and the fiddle and has her BA and B.Ed. She has composed many vocal and instrumental tunes and many of her compositions have been recorded by others and are played at contests; her waltz, Braelyn has won for “best waltz” in several contests. In spite of her busy schedule, Kelli has made five independent recordings and is working on a sixth. She has played with Red Rose Express, the Bobby Lalonde Band, Wayne Ronstad & the Family Brown and The Brigadoons.

She has won the Canadian Open singing contest, been nominated three times for Country Music Association fiddle player of the year, toured Europe and the Maritimes; she has entertained on cruises, was the female lead in “Swingstep,” and opened for John McDermott & Leahy. With her own band, Kelli was featured at the Glengarry Highland Games. Recently Kelli played to two sold out shows in Kingston and is starting her second tour with “Bowfire” which highlights the fiddles of the world.
