John Paul Vachon

John Paul Vachon was born March 25th, 1930 in Apple Hill. He was born into a musical family, and started playing the guitar by ear at the age of ten. He often accompanied his mother Laurette (Ranger) Vachon on the violin, as well as his uncles Bob and Lucien Ranger.

John Paul has played with several musicians and groups in his lifetime, including: Bob Ranger, Kenny MacRae, Sid Plamador (Plamondon), The Glen Orchestra, Rex Silmser and the Watson Brothers, Mike Gibbs Band, and is presently playing with the The Glengarry Old Time Fiddlers.

As well as playing live at shows, John Paul played guitar on the original recording of Glengarry My Home with Ken MacRae, and also played on Bob Ranger's record.

Besides playing lead, rhythm, steel and bass guitar, John Paul also plays some violin and piano.
