Risa is a young woman that appears no more than twenty five years. Her disheveled mop of chestnut brown hair partial hides her hazel hued eyes and lightly tanned features. She often dresses in comfortable shorts and shoes, and wears a pretty, silken garment that she stole from an NSR owned outlet. Her slim form looks almost fragile, and her large eyes make her look like a naive waif than one of the Glorious Bulls of the Unconquered Sun. Despite her appearance, she still radiates an optimistic bounce that some may find enduring, or annoying, but is never apologetic of her enthusiasm. Life as a Solar has been a far cry from what she dreamed of as a child, but she now knew her purpose in life, and that's all that matters.

Risa grew up under the blessings and comfort of the Solar Deliberative. Life in Meru was never exactly ideal, but any city had its own share of problems. Her parents were curators of one of the many museums that dotted the magnificent city, where the exploits of the Princes of the Earth were marveled and remembered by the populace. They watched over her and her brothers, ensuring that they received the best education mortals in the greatest city in Creation could buy. She also loved visiting the museums, and marveled at these incredible beings that had made the world so safe for mortals like herself. There were times when she even dared to dream that she might become one of the Sun's Chosen.

The Usurpation happened. She was in under-city, her first job as a mural painter in fact, when it began. The young Solar still remembers those bone-chilling days during Calibration when explosions rocked the city, sending chunks of the main city's foundations and other debris tumbling into the hapless citizens below. The loss of power and water made matters worse, as one could have heard the screams and cries of rioters and their victims suddenly choked out by a thunderous crash, and knowing that an entire city block was just gone.

When the fighting finally ended, days later, Risa returned to the surface, glad to have survived. What greeted her was magnificent Meru torn by war, her buildings smashed to ruin and her people dead in the streets. She discovered soon after that her family was caught in the middle of the fighting, but nobody cared. The Celestials called it collateral damage, and the Dragon-Blood were little better towards the people. But the executions were what truly shook her to the core.

The Solar Exlated, the Princes of the Earth were betrayed by their fellow Exalts, and publicly executed. She was in the crowd when Lady Salina met her end. The people of Meru did nothing. What could they do? But watched as she watched. She remembered the Solar's defiance in the end. Her words rang impossibly clear in her final moments. "Merela Lives."

For days, Risa could not get the words out of her mind. When she finally returned to her home, a half-melted ruin, she knew what she wanted, no, had to do. She took her paints and drew Lady Salina's last words on the side of her home. And at that moment, the Sun spoke to her. The Mandate of Heaven will ever remain with the Solar Exalted he told her. She felt his love and righteousness, and made it her own. She knew what she had to do.

Life as one of the Sun's Chosen has certainly been different from what Risa had dreamed of as a child. Her palace was the streets and sewers of Meru, her feasts whatever she can scavenge or provided for by kinder souls than the city's current rulers, the Night Sky Regime. She roams the streets, using her talents to paint the walls of Meru into an image of rebuke towards the usurpers, and to remind the people that the Sun endures. The Sun endures, and soon the light of the dawn will return to betrayed Meru, and the night will be banished once more.
