Democratic Republic of Leasath

Leasath, a country located south of Osea in the Southern Hemisphere, was a country with a facistic ideology. Its military was massive and strong, and it possessed previously unseen technologies. These technologies would be the precursor of a bigger war, later in the future. Little else is known of Leasath history before its civil war, but what can be established is that they stayed out of the Belkan War in 1995 and the Circum-Pacific War in 2010.

[edit] Civil War and Strife (2019-2020)

In 2019, Leasath erupted into internal civil war. Due to the lack of intelligence, it is impossible to determine who was fighting and why. The civil war tore Leasath apart, and left it in ruins.

[edit] Invasion of Aurelia (2020)

A mere year later, unbelievably, Leasath invaded Aurelia, its peaceful neighbor to the south. Its reason for this was "Retribution for years for exploitation." Aurelia had apparently financed the civil war and wanted to see Leasath crumble. This later turned out to be untrue. Within 3 days, 97% of Aurelia fell under control, and its military was crushed. The Gleipnir, Leasaths airborne superweapon, was the reason for Aurelia's quick fall. Despite international pressure from Osea and the UN, Leasath continued its blitzkrieg into Aurelia.

[edit] Counter Strike (2020)

A small base in southwestern Aurelia, Aubrey Base, had not fallen under Leasath control. Leasath Central Command sent out several squadrons of B-52H bombers to destroy the base and bring Aurelia fully under their control. Unfortunatly, Gryphus Squadron destroyed every bomber and fighter escort, shocking Leasath Central Command. Aurelia still had a small airforce, and that needed to change. The Gleipnir, flying over the Puna Plains was ordered to launch an SWBM at Gryphus Squadron. The SWBM impacted, and all but Gryphus 1 and 5 were shot down. All seemed lost for Aurelia after this turn of events.

[edit] A Further Push (2020)

Despite the staggering loss, Aurelia continued to push southwards towards Port Patterson, a major port and resupply base for Leasath naval forces. A small forward outpost, Puna Base, was destroyed by Aurelian fighters, and came under their control. Port Patterson was put on high alert, but that proved futile. Gryphus 1 and several squadrons of Aurelian fighters escorted a ground assault force, bent on bringing the port back under friendly control. Despite their best efforts, many ships were sunk and fighters were shot down. This was a momentous event for Aurelia, but a long and brutal road lay ahead.

[edit] Gleipnir and Loss of Territory (September of 2020)

The Gleipnir, Leasaths pride and superweapon, was a danger to Aurelian forces, and an attack was launched to destroy it Its base was on Terminus Island, and several groups of Aurelian naval vessels attempted to destroy it. The Gleipnir used its Shock Cannon and vaporized the 3rd Aurelian Fleet. It then proceeded to destroy the rest of the naval forces dispatched to destroy it. Suddenly, Gryphus 1 appeared and dealt severe blows to the Gleipnir. Its Optical Camo was destroyed, as well as its SWBM. The Gleipnir gained altitude and escaped to Santa Elva. Leasath began losing in every battle it fought. Transport planes were shot down over Kingshill, mechanized infantry battalions were annihilated and Stand Canyon, and an attempt to retake Port Patterson resulted in the destruction of the Miller 3rd Artillery Division. Most of the Leasath forces in the area retreated beyond Santa Elva, and waited for the inevitable Aurelian attack.

[edit] Loss of Santa Elva (October of 2020)

The attack came, sooner than expected. The Gleipnir was still undergoing repair, and was not fully functional. Its AA and SAM sites were the only viable weapons that were functioning, and its Shock Cannon was useless. Pummeled repeatedly by missiles, its conventional weapons systems destroyed, the Gleipnir seemed finished. Its Captain lost his mind and somehow managed to flip the Gleipnir upside down, with the intent of using the Shock Cannon on Gryphus 1. The plan failed and the Gleipnir crashed outside of Santa Elva. The news reached Leasath High Command in Griswall, and the capital was fortified to protect from attack.

Leasaths fortunes did not improve. Leasath Central Command came to the reluctant conclusion that they had seriously underestimated Aurelia's strike capabilities. Operations in central Aurelia were halted one after the other by Gryphus 1, now known as Nemesis. Military forces on the Kalana Steppes were destroyed, as well as the Biological Special Forces "Hamlet" Unit. Sachana Air Base, a vital strategic area, was seized by Aurelian aircraft led by Nemesis. The Nevera Jammer was annihilated, thus removing the jamming over Griswall and the surrounding area. Monte Breeze was taken, and several experimental XC-01 aircraft were shot down. The Capital, Griswall was ready to be re-taken.

[edit] Griswall (December of 2020)

Another crippling blow to Leasath forces was delivered on December 15th, 2020. Aurelian ground forces stormed the capital with heavy air support. The Meson Cannon was destroyed in an instant by Gryphus 1, leaving Griswall wide open. The Atmos Ring Defense Shield took serious damage as well. Gaiuss Tower sustained missile hits, but did not sustain structural damage. All enemy ground forces were eliminated, and the capital was seized by Aurelia. Diego Gaspar Navarro, Leasath's commanding officer, fled before the attack in his personal C-17 transport.

[edit] Fenrir and Utter Defeat (mid-December of 2020)

Navarro's escaping transport was followed by Otus Squadron to a secret complex on Archelon Island. Suddenly, two cloaked aircraft appeared behind Otus and shot them down. Otus 1 was only able to get off the name of the place: Archelon Fortress.

Aurelia Central Command immediately mobilized Gryphus Squadron to destroy the threat.

Leasath's final days were fraught with debilitating defeats and staggering losses. Its production facility at Cobalt Cave was destroyed, as well as the prototype HPM weapon for the Fenrir. Alect Squadron was destroyed by Gryphus 1 and the Leasath Navy was crushed single-handedly.

Leasath's final stand was at Archelon Fortress, December ?, 2020. Gryphus Squadron and Aquila Squadron assaulted the fortress. The fortress sent up its Fenrirs, SU-37s, SU-47s and F-15S/MTDs, but it was to no avail. Every aircraft, Fenrir included, was shot down. Gryphus 1 then entered the fortress and destroyed it from the inside. Archelon Fortress exploded in a massive shockwave, taking with it Leasaths last chance for redemption. Navarro, who was in the capital city of Alendai trumpeting the glory of Fenrir, was shocked to see Archelon's destruction on the video feed. The enraged citizens of Leasath, who had learned of his nefarious plans, stormed the stadium where the event was held and destroyed Fenrir. Navarro fled again, and his location is currently unknown.

Aftermath (Christmas of 2020 - 2045) After the war, Leasath was devastated, much like Belka was 25 years ago. Leasath could not rebuild its military, it had lost trillions of dollars in superweapon development, its government and cities were in shambles. Hoping to make a profit, it is believed they sold the Fenrir plans to Grunder Industries, who would become General Resource. The Fenrir plans would be used to make the X/FA 36A Game fighter. Leasath was presumed to have been taken over by corporations, much like its neighbors. Between 2020-2045, before the war and the fall of Leasath to corporations, Aurelia, in revenge for Leasath's act, supposedly took control of the country, and imposed strict sanctions on it, with the support of Osea and other major nations.

Leasath supposedly came under control of corporations in 2045, though it is hard to determine whom. It played no role in the Neucom-General Resource War however.
